Community Benefits

The Wapping Fair has been held in South Windsor every year of its existence. Throughout those years the town and community have supported the fair in numerous ways, from helping with setting up the grounds for the fair to reserving the fairgrounds. Help has come from many departments and organizations in town including the Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance Corp, Parks & Recreation Dept, Public Works and Planning & Zoning.

Community Capital Improvement Projects
This will be the 7th year the South Windsor Jaycees are coordinating the Wapping Fair and are pleased by the overall success of the fair. In fact, a portion of the proceeds from the past 4 years has been earmarked towards the community. Donations have been made to My Friends Place ($3,000 towards playground), Town of South Windsor ($3,000 to purchase defibrillator), Family Awareness Day ($350 sponsorship), $1,000 for the 2nd level ropes course, $1,000 to the South Windsor Fire Department for modernizing training equipment, $2,500 to the South Windsor Police Department to help fund a new police dog and $200 towards sponsoring a youth basketball team. In addition, the Jaycees are committed to continuously showing their thanks to the community by allocating up to 50% of the fair proceeds toward local community projects.

Funding of Jaycee Projects
The Wapping Fair is the sole fundraiser for the South Windsor Jaycees. The proceeds that go back to the chapter are used to cover their administrative expenses, recognize and reward members for their efforts and most importantly fund more than 25 community projects conducted throughout the year. Some of our more recognizable events include: Breakfast W/Bunny, Pet Food Drive, Thanksgiving Baskets, Winter Clothing Drives, Adopt-A-Road, Pepsi, Pitch, Hit & Run, Family Awareness Day, Santa Letters, Breakfast with Santa, Heritage Day and Adopt-A-Family. All of these and more are conducted annually to benefit people in the community at no cost to the attendees. Every last expense is funded thanks to the success of the Wapping Fair.
