Fair has been held in South Windsor every year of its existence. Throughout
those years the town and community have supported the fair in numerous
ways, from helping with setting up the grounds for the fair to reserving
the fairgrounds. Help has come from many departments and organizations
in town including the Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance
Corp, Parks & Recreation Dept, Public Works and Planning & Zoning.
Community Capital Improvement Projects
Proceeds of the fair are donated to various causes including capital improvements in town. Over the years, the Jaycess have made donations to South Windsor Food & Fuel Bank ($5,000), My Friends Place ($3,000 towards playground), Town of South Windsor ($3,000 to purchase defibrillator), $1,000 for the 2nd level ropes course, $1,000 to the South Windsor Fire Department for modernizing training equipment, $2,500 to the South Windsor Police Department to help fund a new police dog and $200 towards sponsoring a youth basketball team.
Community Give Back Program
To help with the ever increasing staffing needs of the fair, the Jaycees implemented the Community Give Back Program. The program provides opportunities for local organizations, groups and teams to raise funds by providing manpower for fair tasks. Over $4,000 is donated annually to groups such as the Boy Scouts, PTO's, explorers, garden clubs and sports teams.
of Jaycee Projects
Fair is the sole fundraiser for the South Windsor Jaycees. The proceeds
go back to the chapter to fund more than 20 community projects conducted throughout the year.
Some of our more recognizable events include: Breakfast with Bunny, Pet
Food Drive, Thanksgiving Baskets, Breakfast
with Santa, Heritage Day and Adopt-A-Family. All of these are
conducted annually to benefit people in the community at no cost to
the attendees. Every last expense is funded thanks to the success of
the Wapping Fair.
